Fascia
If you've ever opened up a chicken, you will know about fascia. It's that elastic, stretchy substance wrapped around e.g. the breast of the chicken.
Through the microscope it looks more like this, but what you cannot see from this photo is that the fluid is constantly moving within those lines, and that the structure is never constant and is always changing.

Foot, Ankle, Knee, Hip Alignment & Walking
Whether you are standing upright without moving, or when you put your foot ahead of you on the ground whilst walking, gravity settles or compresses you into the ground. As it does so, a balancing act automatically takes place in the body.
In order to achieve perfect balance, whether you are standing either on both feet or on one foot, or even when you are in the process of walking, the body has to align itself vertically with the point of pressure on the feet/foot.

Plantar Fasciitis
I have recently had plantar fasciitis – the second time I’ve experienced it.
The first time, the acupuncturist managed to get rid of it in 3 weeks, and the current version seems to be taking longer, but now seems to be disappearing very slowly after about 6 weeks.
This time was a bit worse, but I’ve found the unpleasant experience to be a good learning curve, and I’ve gleaned some good ways of dealing with the problem.
