Daoyin Qigong: Health Preservation (set 1)
This set of Daoyin Yangsheng Gong exercises was developed by Professor Zhang Guangde and is the first of two Health Preservation sets which work on the over-all health of the body.
There are 8 exercises in all:
1) Adjust the Breath
2) Push the Boat Downstream
3) Shoulder the Sun and the Moon
4) A Roc Spreads its Wings
5) Lifting the Millstone
6) Opening the Window to Look at the Moon
7) Brushing the Dust with the Wind
8) The God of Longevity Strokes his Beard.
The full set of exercises can be as demanding as you choose to make them. They open up the major joints of the body, and using twisting motions of the body and limbs they free up the acupuncture channels to remove stagnation. They also gently stretch open the body's tissues allowing for better flow of blood, lymph, and energy (qi).
